Antibody Development Services for Cytoskeletal Proteins

The function of the cytoskeleton is to maintain the morphology of the cell, to withstand external pressure, to maintain an orderly structure within the cell, to maintain the balance of water within the cell, and to transport and move substances. The structure, function and dynamic behavior of the cytoskeleton is very diverse in different cells. CD BioSciences' technical staff has been dedicated to researching, developing and producing high quality immunoassay reagents for many years. We have become a trusted and reliable supplier to many leading international research institutions and clinical diagnostic companies by providing superior products to scientists in the life sciences worldwide. Our antibodies combine specificity, sensitivity and reproducibility to provide high quality antibody reagents for cytoskeleton research.

Cytoskeletal Proteins

The cytoskeleton provides support for the cell, intracellular transport components and cell division and consists of microtubules, intermediate filaments and microfilaments (actin). Cytoskeleton-labeled antibodies also help elucidate the possible roles of proteins in activities centered on or influenced by the cytoskeleton.

  • Microtubules
Microtubules are involved in many cellular functions, including maintenance of cell structure, intracellular trafficking, and mitotic spindle formation during cell division.
  • Actin
Actin is a type of muscle structural protein. It plays an important role in muscle movement. It is present in the filaments of the myogenic fibers of the transverse muscle and also in smooth muscle. It is also an important protein in cellular motility of the division.
  • Intermediate Filaments
Intermediate filaments help organize the internal three-dimensional structure of cells, anchor organelles and nuclei, and help form some cell-cell and cell-matrix junctions. They're not directly involved in cell motility and since they are present in large numbers in cells subjected to mechanical stress, their main role seems to be to enhance cells and tissues. It is also a structural part of the nuclear layer that is arranged inside the nuclear membrane and guides the shape of the nucleus. The six main types of intermediate fibers are distinguished and expressed in specific cell types.
