Biological Description
Menadione, a naphthoquinone, can be converted to active vitamin K2 in vivo. Menadione is used as a protein tyrosine phosphatase inhibitor, an inhibitor of mitochondrial DNA polymerase γ (pol γ), and induce DNA strand breaks. Menadione can be used as an oxidative injury (free radical generator) inducing agent, and is ble to prevent erlotinib induced cell-cycle arrest. It has a role as a nutraceutical, a human urinary metabolite, an angiogenesis inhibitor, an SARS coronavirus main proteinase inhibitor and an antineoplastic agent.

Handling
Wherever possible, you should prepare and use solutions on the same day.
