Biological Description
Non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI). Exhibits antiviral and anticancer activities. Clinically used to treat HIV type 1 infection. Prevents RNA plus-strand initiation (IC50 = 17 nM). Induces autophagy and mitochondrial changes in neurons. Inhibits cellular proliferation and increases activation of p53 in various cancer cell lines.
