Biological Description
Crystal violet is an organic chloride salt that is the monochloride salt of crystal violet cation. It is effective against some Gram-positive bacteria (notably Staphylococcus species) and some pathogenic fungi (including Candida species) infections but carcinogenicity is reported in animals. It has also been used for dying wood, silk, and paper, as well as a histological stain. It has a role as a histological dye, an antiseptic drug, an antibacterial agent, an antifungal agent and an anthelminthic drug.

Storage Instructions
Store at 4 °C. Store under desiccating conditions. The product can be stored for up to 12 months.
Handling
Wherever possible, you should prepare and use solutions on the same day. However, if you need to make up stock solutions in advance, we recommend that you store the solution as aliquots in tightly sealed vials at -20 °C. Generally, these will be useable for up to one month. Before use, and prior to opening the vial we recommend that you allow your product to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 1 hour.
