The complex functions and stable structure of centrosome mainly relies on the centrosomal proteins. During the cell cycle, centrosomal proteins are involved in mitosis entry, mitosis exit, bipolar spindle assembly, centrosome mutation and separation, chromatid separation and so on.

The centrosomal protein abnormity causes CA, which is frequently observed in malignant tumor, including breast, colon, prostate. and lung carcinomas. And the aberrations can be detected with the use of antibodies that target the PCM, such as tubulin. Therefore, centrosomal proteins are potential target for malignant tumor.
