Product Overview
Transgenic GFP-CETN2 mice express an enhanced green fluorescent protein-labeled human Centrin-2 (EGFP-CETN2) under the control of the chicken beta-actin promoter (with cytomegalovirus immediate early enhancer). These GFP-CETN2 mice allow fluorescent staining of the centrioles of the centrosome, and may be useful for studying mitosis, microtubule organization, cell-cycle regulation, signal transduction, transcription activation, cell migration, DNA damage repair, and cancer.

Genetics

Gene Symbol
Tg(CAG-EGFP/CETN2)3-4Jgg
Gene Name
transgene insertion 3-4
Phenotype
nervous system phenotype
Site of Expression
GFP is expressed in a centrioles of the centrosome in every tissue examined from E14.5 through adult.
Expressed Gene(s)
CETN2,centrin 2,human; GFP,Green Fluorescent Protein
Strain of Origin
BALB/c x C57BL/6
Chromosome
UN
Molecular Note
The GFP-CETN2 transgene was designed with a chicken beta-actin promoter (with cytomegalovirus immediate early enhancer and beta-actin intron) upstream of an EGFP-centrin 2 fusion protein (containing the full length human centrin 2 cDNA cloned in-frame into the C-terminal of enhanced green fluorescent protein), and followed by a beta-globin polyA sequence. Two lines were maintained (18-1 and 3-4) and line 3-4 was donated. These lines show consistent, robust expression of GFP in centrosomes (particularly in cerebellar granule cells).

Husbandry

Suggested Controls
CB6F1/J, Noncarrier
Breeding Considerations
When maintaining a live colony, transgenic mice may be bred to non-transgenic siblings or to CB6F1/J inbred mice. As these mice are on a CB6 (BALB/c;C57BL/6) genetic background, expected coat color may be agouti, black or albino.
Appearance Details
As these mice are on a CB6 (BALB/c;C57BL/6) genetic background, the colony may be segregating for agouti, non-agouti black, agouti brown, non-agouti brown and albino coat colors
